Let’s start by my main comment about the room: the first room puzzle is simply THE BEST. It includes your own team, includes the whole room and is visually gorgeous! It was a close call for me between 4 and 5 stars on this one, as it’s one of the most beautiful room and theme I’ve ever experienced but the room might seem a bit easy and you might exit the room after 30-40 minutes only. I have to be honest, I was expecting lower quality rooms than Skurrilum, but Hidden in Hamburg are amazing rooms with very clever puzzles in quantity.

Time Master is very much unique and even though it might seem quite easy and quick to escape, there is quite a fair amount of rooms. Due to the easy difficulty, this room seem like it would be perfect for two or three players. Hidden in Hamburg doesn’t need much space to do a room, they make the space. They are also currently improving the room, as when we played (March 2019) you have a side quest to collect golden bars on top of fixing the time. Those golden bars currently seem out of theme and plastic-y but once they are working on changing them to hour glasses, it will fit perfectly in theme and add to the immersion.

So to sum up, not a hard room but very interesting puzzles to solve in a gorgeous atmosphere leading to a rewarding finale. Absolutely great!

Neptune’s curse is taking place right inside Rickmer’s Rickmer boat museum which gives a very confidential aspect to it, as you are waiting for your escape and escape right in the middle of people looking and reading at information panels.

Unlike the rest of the Hidden in Hamburg rooms that we had the chance to try, the Curse of Neptune didn’t feel as immersive to me as the other as we were in a boat and the room was decorated as a boat but it’s actually a good shout as you did felt in the deep of a boat as it’s a very impressive room which stays true to the story: find Netpune tridents. Unfortunately, the room wasn’t yet translated to English so we missed a bit of the story and immersion, but once it will be translated it should bring a lot to the strength of the room theme.

The room seems to be mostly for a small amount of players due to the narrow size of each room but then again; some puzzles and moments are inclusive to all players. One puzzle in particular included each one of us in our team of 5 players, and that was a really good touch; one of my favourite puzzles of the weekend in Hamburg, and one of the most inclusive puzzles I’ve ever seen before.

Two puzzles were broken when we played, one of them involved a magnet which unfortunately detached and fell out of reach. It was impossible without the magnet to complete the game but fortunately one person of our team had very small hands and could complete the puzzle. But if she weren’t there; we would have been stuck and would probably have needed the Game Master to enter the room. Another puzzle had its ‘success lights’ that didn’t work so it didn’t give us a complete feeling of achievement but from what we understood, the Curse of Neptune is still quite a recent room so it explains that they might still be working on those issues.

We haven’t tried the other room in Rickmer’s Rickmer “Captain Overboard” so can’t compare with it, but I would highly advise visitors in Hamburg to book The Curse of Neptune to experience yet another great adventure with a strong quantity and quality of puzzles!
